Creating Spaces Where Everyone Belongs.
People with disabilities and allies—experience coffee, CommUNITY, and lifelong learning at B3.
Being, Belonging & Becoming.
B3 is a nonprofit that brings people with and without disabilities together through social, educational, and vocational programs. We create spaces of belonging that advance disability justice, allyship, and inclusion.
What Our Community Says.
The disability allyship trainings offered by B3 were eye-opening and examined topics I have never heard about before. Discussions about topics such as ableism have helped me reflect on my own bias while also allowing me the opportunity to learn and make changes.

A great group and a fabulous [life skills] program. Thanks to all instructors for the thoughtful curriculum, kind support, role plays, activities, and advocacy language!
– B3 care partner, Kim
Because of B3, our loved ones are more visible, more appreciated, and most importantly, less isolated and living better lives. How do I express how much that means as a mother?
– B3 Care Partner, Denise
I finally feel like I have a place to be myself”
– B3 member, Adele
I’ve gained valuable allyship skills to better support the disabled community, learning to foster inclusivity and collaborate for meaningful social change.
– B3 member, Grace
B3 has given me a voice. B3 has given me the career I want to follow, public speaking. B3 has prepared me for any job, including a coffee shop. B3 has given me a community where people care about each other. B3 has given me transportation and cooking skills. I am so grateful.”
– B3 member, Alex

CommUNITY in Action
In today’s Arts EMPOWER class, B3 members explored the concept of interdependence. We had a blast revisiting the High School Musical “We’re All in This Together” scene and putting our teamwork to the test with a bridge-building challenge. We wrapped up by learning the art of jewelry making and beading 🙌

B3 members had an amazing time at the annual Science Expo on UNC’s campus! Highlights include:
•Ewan trying to play cornhole with “drunk” glasses 🤪
•So many interactive demos!
•MK being a vibe, as always 💃
•Everyone getting snowcones and enjoying the Carolina blue sky 💙

In honor of Autism Acceptance Month, we’re grateful for the opportunity to screen @nc_ddcouncil’s film UNMET, which shines a light on the disability care worker shortage in North Carolina.
We also heard from an incredible panel of neurodivergent adults and care partners who shared powerful perspectives on building a more inclusive and just world for Autistic and neurodivergent people.
Amid these systemic challenges, B3 is working to reimagine what care and authentic community can look like for people of all abilities. Consider making a donation in honor of an Autistic or neurodivergent person in your life ♾️🌈 https://b3nc.org/donate/

We’re excited to introduce our newest team member, Laurin!
Laurin joins B3 as a CommUNITY Leader, where she will help lead catering events, facilitate life skills programs, and support B3’s Clubhouse model.
She brings experience in workforce development and creating meaningful day supports for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Laurin is excited to bring her fun energy and passion for inclusive, welcoming spaces to the B3 community.
Please join us in giving her a warm B3 welcome! 🫶

✨A recap of glimmers from the past week in the B3 CommUNITY✨
•Joey having the best day ever (IYKYK— he’s been on us for years about doing a first aid lesson as well as having a pop up in a medical setting…BOTH happened in one day —and to top it off, Joey was gifted a school of dentistry thermos!)
•Folks having so much fun at Clubhouse we stayed after hours to keep chatting. These moments of connection are everything ❤️
•Walking @downtownchapelhill in the beautiful Spring weather and getting to know strangers via petting every dog we pass by 🐶
•A visit to @visitchapelhill — they always make us feel so welcome!
•Outdoor games (football, cornhole, and basetbal) during Clubhouse
•Drawing ecosystems and learning about sustainability during B3’s Arts EMPOWER class
This is the kind of quality of life we believe everyone deserves. Full of community, connection, visibility, and lifelong learning. 💙
In honor of Autism Acceptance Month, join us for our annual screening of a film that centers the neurodivergent experience, followed by a panel conversation with Autistic adults and care partners. Panelists will reflect on their lived experiences, highlighting systemic challenges, resources and ways to be an ally to the disability and neurodivergent community.
This year’s selected film is “Unmet,” a powerful short documentary by @nc_ddcouncil shining a light on the Direct Support Professional (DSP) and waiver crisis in North Carolina—and the urgent impact on individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) and their families.
Popcorn will be provided, and light refreshments will be available for purchase at the B3 Coffee kiosk. RSVP at the link in our story!
