Creating Spaces Where Everyone Belongs.
People with disabilities and allies—experience coffee, CommUNITY, and lifelong learning at B3.
Being, Belonging & Becoming.
B3 is a nonprofit that brings people with and without disabilities together through social, educational, and vocational programs. We create spaces of belonging that advance disability justice, allyship, and inclusion.
What Our Community Says.
The disability allyship trainings offered by B3 were eye-opening and examined topics I have never heard about before. Discussions about topics such as ableism have helped me reflect on my own bias while also allowing me the opportunity to learn and make changes.

A great group and a fabulous [life skills] program. Thanks to all instructors for the thoughtful curriculum, kind support, role plays, activities, and advocacy language!
– B3 care partner, Kim
Because of B3, our loved ones are more visible, more appreciated, and most importantly, less isolated and living better lives. How do I express how much that means as a mother?
– B3 Care Partner, Denise
I finally feel like I have a place to be myself”
– B3 member, Adele
I’ve gained valuable allyship skills to better support the disabled community, learning to foster inclusivity and collaborate for meaningful social change.

B3 has given me a voice. B3 has given me the career I want to follow, public speaking. B3 has prepared me for any job, including a coffee shop. B3 has given me a community where people care about each other. B3 has given me transportation and cooking skills. I am so grateful.”

CommUNITY in Action
Today in B3’s Navigating the Digital World program, we explored social media (the good, the bad, and the ugly!) and learned how to spot common online scams. 📱🛡️
To apply everything we learned, a few B3 members took a selfie “for Instagram!” Shante, Dakota, and Molly nailed it! 🎯📸
Learning digital skills isn’t just about using technology—it’s about building confidence, staying safe online, and having fun along the way.🙌

We’ve had an incredible week with @dukeotd🤩B3 Summer Adventures camp participants had the opportunity to refresh skills that were introduced in camp through small group lessons led by Duke Occupational Therapy students. Topics included tipping practice, wellness, online safety, community mobility and cooking.
It’s been a true win-win: B3 members benefit from engaging, lifelong learning opportunities, while the next generation of occupational therapy professionals gains hands-on experience with neurodiversity-affirming, strengths-based practices.
Thank you, Duke OTD, for your partnership and for helping create more inclusive communities together. 🤝💙

Day 4️⃣ and 5️⃣ of B3’s Summer Adventures camp were a blast!
🚌On day 4, we bussed to Southpoint mall and practiced comparison shopping & money skills while there! Of course we couldn’t skip the food court 😍
🌳On day 5, we bussed to @southernvillage ! We played disc golf and pickleball, practiced resource mapping, played board games at @weaverstreetmarket and enjoyed the local cuisine!🍔
It was a full and very memorable week! 🫶

Day 3️⃣ of B3’s Summer Adventures camp was the ultimate summer fun 🤩 we meal prepped a picnic lunch, followed by music bingo, the pool and pickle ball! It was also so special to be visited by B3’s co-founder, Hannah, who spent the day with us 💛

For Day 2️⃣ of B3’s Summer Adventures Camp, our members visited Gray Squirrel Coffee and got a behind-the-scenes look at the coffee roasting process from bean to brew! ☕️ We learned how coffee is roasted, explored different flavor profiles, and sampled coffees with a variety of tasting notes.
💡 Fun fact: Gray Squirrel roasts the beans used at the B3 Coffee kiosk! They also played a key role in connecting us to the opportunity that led to our kiosk space at the Chapel Hill Public Library.
Our local roots run deep, and we’re grateful for community partners like Gray Squirrel Coffee who have supported B3’s mission from the beginning. Thank you for sharing your expertise and helping make this experience so memorable! ❤️

Today, B3 was honored to accept a proclamation from the Town of Chapel Hill recognizing July as Disability Pride Month. Disability Pride Month celebrates the history, culture, and contributions of disabled people and commemorates the anniversary of the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, a landmark civil rights law advancing access and inclusion for disabled people.
We are grateful to the many advocates, past and present, whose work continues to move us toward a community where disabled people are valued, included, and celebrated.
We also pause to acknowledge the passing of Jamezetta Bedford, a longtime Chapel Hill community leader, educator, and public servant whose dedication to disability justice left a lasting legacy in our community.

Disability inclusive volunteering is not only a fun way to spend the afternoon— it’s flipping the narrative. When people with disabilities (alongside allies) have the opportunity to contribute, connect, and show up as valued members of their communities, everyone benefits.
These experiences build belonging, challenge assumptions, and help us all become #BetterTogether✨
