CommUNITY in Action
For the last session of B3’s Fall “Chill Time” Life Skills program, members were given several objects and tasked with coming up with a fun activity or game, which then turned into a relay. We were so impressed with everyone’s creativity— sometimes finding new hobbies just takes a little thinking outside the box!

B3’s first-ever cooking program was a huge success! From following visual recipes to learning kitchen hygiene to grocery shopping, members were equipped with foundational cooking skills!
For the last day of the program, we celebrated with a potluck: members brought items they cooked at home, using our new “B3 Cookbook” 👨🍳😍 Thank you to B3 program facilitator, Greg, and OT fieldwork student, Maddy for developing this new curriculum 💯

B3 x Hope NC Annual Turkey Trot = PURE JOY 🦃🩵
Today was incredible. The most beautiful Carolina-blue skies, perfect weather, and a whole lot of community love. Our B3 family walked, trotted, and rolled twice around Weaver’s Grove — and every step & roll was filled with connection, laughter, and belonging.
This wasn’t just a trot… it was an experience.
✨ Event Highlights:
• Encouragement Station: Handmade signs for our trotters
• Bubble Frolic Zone: Because everything is better with bubbles
• Football + “Pass the Turkey” for extra movement and fun
• UNC FFORC’s Bike Blender: A workout and a delicious smoothie… win-win!
• OT/PT Wellness Tent: Free evaluations + adaptive equipment
• Food & Hydration Station to keep everyone fueled
• Raffle Station: One lucky household won an entire Thanksgiving meal — turkey, sides, and even a broiler!
But the heart of today? COMMUNITY.
Neighbors becoming friends. Families connecting. Participants of all abilities sharing space, joy, and movement together. That’s what B3 is all about — building a world where everyone belongs and everyone can show up exactly as they are.
Thank you to Hope NC, every volunteer, every partner, every family, and every participant who made today unforgettable.

🌱 Navigating Our CommUNITY — Week 10: Exploring Vocational Interests 🌱
Today’s session was all about discovering what work feels good — in our bodies, our routines, and our lives.
Participants explored both jobs and volunteer opportunities across our community, and learned how to match their interests and strengths with meaningful roles.
We were joined by two incredible guests:
✨ Fred from WeWillWalkWithYou
Fred shared practical tools for understanding our quality of life and how to build routines that support us rather than overwhelm us. He reminded us that each of us deserves to “fill our cup” in ways that feel right for our energy, pace, and goals.
✨ Jacklyn from WorkTogetherNC
Jacklyn helped us navigate the world of inclusive employment, offering guidance on finding paid work that aligns with our skills, passions, and access needs. She also highlighted statewide resources and supports available to help people thrive in the workplace.
Participants ended the session by exploring their personal vocational interests — from art, animals, and childcare to customer service, libraries, coffee shops, golf, and more. We love seeing everyone envision what’s possible for their future.

Today in our Navigating 🧭 Our CommUNITY program, we leaned into breaking old habits and building new ones grounded in interdependence, confidence, and choice.
After a mindful conversation about letting go of co-dependence and embracing shared support, participants split into two interest-based groups and put their social plans into action — completely on their own.
One group headed to Target, the other to Epilogue, each using the tools and strategies they’ve been practicing each week: planning, wayfinding, communication, and teamwork.
Along the way, Ainsley’s bright green matcha became our unexpected inspiration — sparking a mini scavenger hunt for colors, textures, and moments of joy. It turned into a mindful adventure that reminded us that learning doesn’t just happen in a classroom… it happens in community.
Such a great day together — full of independence, interdependence, creativity, and connection.
