Creating Spaces Where Everyone Belongs.
People with disabilities and allies—experience coffee, CommUNITY, and lifelong learning at B3.
Being, Belonging & Becoming.
B3 is a nonprofit that brings people with and without disabilities together through social, educational, and vocational programs. We create spaces of belonging that advance disability justice, allyship, and inclusion.
What Our Community Says.
The disability allyship trainings offered by B3 were eye-opening and examined topics I have never heard about before. Discussions about topics such as ableism have helped me reflect on my own bias while also allowing me the opportunity to learn and make changes.
– B3 member, Isla
A great group and a fabulous [life skills] program. Thanks to all instructors for the thoughtful curriculum, kind support, role plays, activities, and advocacy language!
– B3 care partner, Kim
Because of B3, our loved ones are more visible, more appreciated, and most importantly, less isolated and living better lives. How do I express how much that means as a mother?
– B3 Care Partner, Denise
I finally feel like I have a place to be myself”
– B3 member, Adele
I’ve gained valuable allyship skills to better support the disabled community, learning to foster inclusivity and collaborate for meaningful social change.
– B3 member, Grace
B3 has given me a voice. B3 has given me the career I want to follow, public speaking. B3 has prepared me for any job, including a coffee shop. B3 has given me a community where people care about each other. B3 has given me transportation and cooking skills. I am so grateful.”

At today’s Navigating Our CommUNITY program, members practiced social planning. In small groups, members chose a destination and navigated their way there using GPS. One of the groups enjoyed a bite to eat at @suttonsdrugstore — the smiles say it all!

In today’s Arts EMPOWER class, B3 members explored how different justice movements—like the civil rights and disability rights movements—are deeply interconnected. We then got creative making beautiful papier-mâché masks!
With 70-degree sunshine calling our name, we wrapped up class with a sensory walk through the Coker Arboretum 😍 Members loved petting friendly dogs and spotting spring blooms along the way.
Learning, creativity, and connection— this is what B3 is all about 🌸☀️

A little peek at B3’s 2025 Impact Report—hot off the press 🔥
In 2025, we launched our Clubhouse pilot, unveiled a rebrand that reflects the full scope of our work, and continued strengthening our life skills and transitional employment programs—all while staying grounded in sustainable growth.
We can’t wait to share what we accomplished and where we’re headed next. 💫

Today, B3 Arts Empower participants engaged in a dynamic lesson on disability culture versus ordinary culture. We learned about how differences bring beauty into the world: for example, many famous artists have synesthesia (the ability to associate sounds with colors, smells with sounds, etc). We practiced listening to music and identifying colors that the music made us feel. Then, we got silly and drew some abstract faces!
Of course, Max had to draw the famous “Uncle Bill” 🤪

In this week’s Belonging in the Workplace program, we dove into workplace communication. Participants identified their communication styles, acted out real-life scenarios, and took on a group challenge to practice applying their communication powers 💥

As Krista enters her final week with B3, we want to share our deep gratitude for the incredible impact she’s had on our community.
From leading catering events, to pioneering our Navigating Our CommUNITY program, to organizing unforgettable outings (Wet’n Wild, the beach, Peacehaven Farm & more!)—Krista brought joy, care, and passion into every space she touched.
Her energy and heart have left a lasting mark on B3, and she will be truly missed. We are so grateful for all she’s poured into our community and the countless moments of connection she helped create. 💫
Help us send Krista off with some B3 love in the comments 👇✨

Week 3 of Navigating Our CommUNITY 🧭🌻
This week, participants created their own Personal ID cards — tools that support independence, confidence, and safety. We’ll pair them with a 🌻 Sunflower Lanyard, recognized worldwide to signal hidden or invisible disabilities when extra support may be helpful.
We practiced our Safety Powers - crossing streets, navigating transit, interacting with others, advocating for ourselves, and moving through the community with awareness and pride.
Then we put it into action.
Participants chose our destination: Target. 🎯
One group took the bus. 🚍
One group walked🚶& rolled 🦼
(There are many ways to navigate — and every way counts.)
Inside the store, Valentine’s displays were everywhere; every color flower you could imagine, festive attire, bright cards lining the aisles. Matthew carefully chose a cake pop. Others browsed, compared prices, practiced decision-making, and enjoyed warm beverages together.
What may look like “just a trip to the store” is actually:
✨ planning
✨ budgeting
✨ communication
✨ confidence-building
✨ authentic community connection
Choice.
Preparation.
Belonging.
Joy.
We’re building skills - and building commUNITY, together. 🤝 ✨🫶

B3’s Belonging in the Workplace program is off to an awesome start! Using the @worktogethernc employment toolkit, members got started on their work portfolios: identifying their strengths and support needs in the workplace. Then, through role play scenarios, members practiced using their “get help” power to practice self advocacy in the workplace.
We’re excited for a full semester of working toward our employment goals!

We had a fabulous first day of #ArtsEmpower 🎨🖌️ Members painted portraits and made beaded pens!
